I lost the installation CD. Where can I get the software?

As a registered owner, you can download the pok Editor as well as profiles, other software and documentation.

2.
How do I register my product?
|
You can register by mail using the registration card included with your product,
online at our website, or by telephone. To register, you need an email address
and the pok serial number.

3.
I lost the user manual. How can I get a replacement?
|
You can download the user manual, installation CD and other documentstion from our downloads web page.
You must register your product to access the download. area.

4.
What is the warranty on the pok?
|
X-Tempo offers a manufacturer's warranty against defects on the pok for 2 years after the original purchase date.
If the product becomes defective within that period, contact Technical Support via our website, by email,
or by telephone for information about a return authorization for warranty repair or replacement.

5.
What is a pok "profile"?
|
A pok profile is what we call the collection of key assignments and settings saved in pok memory.
Each profile contains the key assignments for all 8 buttons as well as the double-click speed setting
and the double-click and Fn-click status settings.
You can edit and name a profile any way you like with the pok Editor utility.

What does the name "pok" mean?
|
It's our acronym for our foot control device which is a keyboard emulator; it stands for Pedal-Operated Keyboard.

7.
Can the pok send mouse clicks?
|
No. The pok sends key commands. However you can find utilities on the web which can emulate mouse clicks from key commands.
One example of such a utility (which is also free), is Mouse Emulator. It can be found at www.readmesoft.com.

8.
Can I use the pok to send midi commands to my DAW?
|
No. The pok does not use midi. It emulates computer keystrokes and takes advantage of your software application's shortcut keys (also called key bindings or hotkeys).

9.
I modified the default key commands on my DAW application. Will the pok work with my custom commands?
|
Yes. You can create or edit pok profiles to suit your needs.
Using pok Editor, you can easily edit or create a profile and store your custom shortcuts to the pok.

10.
I have more than one DAW, with different host applications. Can I use the same pok on both computers?
|
You can use the pok on either computer, provided there is an available USB port. Also, (assuming your computers are running Mac OS X or Windows XP/Vista/Win7), you can install pok Editor on both computers so that you can easily program the pok to suit your host applications.

11.
Can I connect two pok foot controllers to one computer?
|
Yes. There are two different approaches:
1. You can have one USB dongle with two or more foot controllers.
If you are using one USB dongle with two foot controllers, the foot controllers perform identical functions, like having one foot controller in two places.
2. You can use two or more USB dongles with two or more foot controllers.
If you are using two dongles with two foot controllers, the two foot controllers are independent of each other and can have different functions.
Note that pok Editor can only see one pok USB dongle at a time. When you want to program or change a profile on one of the poks, remove the other USB dongles before using pok Editor.

Can I connect one pok to two different computers for simultaneous control of both computers?
|
No. You can connect the pok to one computer at a time. The foot control will pair with only one USB dongle.

Where can I find more pok profiles?
|
In the download area of our website. Registered users can download profiles, file updates and documentation.
If you have not already registered, you can register by online at our website, or by mail using the registration card or by telephone.

14.
Does the pok support international (non-English) keyboard characters?
|
No. The pok emulates a US English keyboard and keystrokes.

How many commands can the pok store?
|
With Double-press and Fn-Press enabled, you can store up to 22 different commands in one profile.
If you use pok Switcher, you can switch between 4 different profiles.

16.
I need more buttons or commands stored on the pok. Is it possible to have more?
|
Yes. There are two approaches you can take. You can download and install our pok Switcher software, which enables you to switch between 4 different profiles without returning to the computer and loading pok Editor.
The second approach is to use more than one pok on the same computer and have a different profile on each.

17.
Is it possible to be able to hold the pok button down without having repeating keystrokes?
|
Yes. On a Mac, you can make adjustments in System Preferences. Open your Keyboard and Mouse preferences and move the slider for "Delay Until Repeat". You can increase the delay or turn it off completely.
On a Windows computer, you can increase the delay before repeating in the Keyboards Control Panel.
If you want to turn off keyboard repeat, you can use the Accessibility Options.
On Windows XP, open "Accessibility Options", select the "Keyboard" tab and select the checkbox for the 'Use FilterKeys' option.
On Windows Vista, double click the 'Ease of Access Center' item and then click the "Make the keyboard easier to use'"link. In the window opened, select the checkbox for the "Turn on Filter Keys" option.

18.
(pok Editor for Mac) Since I upgraded to OS X Leopard 10.5.8 and now pok Editor shows an error "no USB devices found", even though the pok USB dongle is plugged in. What is the problem?
|
(pok Editor for Mac) Upgrade your version of pok Editor and that should resolve the issue. Backup any custom profiles you created, download the latest pok Editor from our website, uninstall your current version of pok Editor and install the new version.

19.
(pok Editor for Windows) I want to capture a Tab into a pok button. Pressing Tab moves the cursor between fields and doesn't get captured.

(pok Editor for Windows) The Tab moves the cursor between fields in the Key Editor. To store a Tab, type the word "TAB" into the field directly.

20.
(pok Editor for Windows) My software needs a NumPad (Number Keypad) Enter key but my notebook computer seems to only type a normal Enter key, not the Number Pad Enter. How can I save a NumPad Enter key to the pok?

(pok Editor for Windows) To store a NumPad (Number Keypad) Enter, type the word "KEYPADENTER" directly into the Key Editor field.

21.
(pok Editor for Windows) Is it possible to assign the Windows logo key (Winkey) to the pok? I cannot capture this key into a pok button.
|
(pok Editor for Windows) If you only want to capture the Winkey by itself, you can use Ctrl-Esc. Just type "CTRL-ESC" into the Key Definition field.
If you need a Winkey+otherkey shortcut, you can work around this by using a keyboard remapper such as KeyTweak (free), to remap another key to the the Winkey.
You could then capture the shortcut to the pok.

22.
(pok Editor for Windows) Can the pok store Windows logo key commands like Winkey-M (minimize)?
|
No the pok cannot store the Winkey modifier key. However you can work around it by mapping another modifier key such as "Alt" to the Winkey, and saving your Alt-shortcut to the pok.
For example, if you map the Alt key to the Winkey and save Alt-M in the pok, whenever you press the pok button, it will have the same effect as if you pressed Winkey-M (Minimize windows).
There are various free and paid keyboard mapping utilities available for download from the web. KeyTweak is an excellent example and it's free.

23.
(pok Switcher) What is pok Switcher?
|
(pok Switcher) pok Switcher is an optional software utility for the pok. You can use Switcher to load another pok profile without returning to the computer.
Switcher can also launch an installed application on your workstation; this way you can have a pok profile for one application and another pok profile for a different application.
Altenatively, you can have up to 4 different profiles for the same application. In effect it's like switching banks of pok buttons, or like having more buttons, with different functions.
